About

Holy wail is inspired by the book of Nehemiah. Nehemiah was about the rebuilding of the wall around Jerusalem and the repairing of its gates. The names of the gates are interesting, ie the water gate, the sheep gate, the fish gate and so on. The names of the men and women who helped rebuild the wall and repair the gates are also interesting. Not all the resources on the internet will recall all the gates that will be covered. That’s because most of the wall was destroyed by the Romans. Things change. An example is in the Book of Revelations which speaks of seven churches in Asia. They no longer exist either. Archaeologist have discovered the sites and artefacts provide proof that they once existed.

This blog will repeat much of Nehemiah and will include some of the meaning behind the names. This blog will also attempt to project the meaning into current times, without too much wailing.

Araunah was a Jebusite and he owned the land, including a threshing floor, on a special location which has some significance for Jerusalem.  There was a plague in King David’s time and the angel executing the plague, under God’s orders, stopped at Araunah’s threshing floor. King David, following a prophet’s guidance,  purchased Araunah’s threshing floor to build an altar for the Lord to stop the plague. (2 Sam 24:18)

The temple was later built on that site. The site on which stood the magnificent temple was once just a place for sifting chaff from wheat.
